FAQ

Why is BCLC requiring ID to enter its casinos?

BCLC is enhancing ID requirements at B.C. casinos to provide support to individuals who have made the decision to take a break from gambling.

After presenting government-issued photo ID, security staff will scan your ID, which is checked against a database of individuals who are not allowed to enter gambling facilities, including those who have enrolled in BCLC’s Game Break program. The system will not store any of your personal information if you are permitted to enter the casino.

The following government-issued photo ID will be accepted and be sure to bring originals as pictures or copies will not be accepted:

  • Driver's license
  • B.C. Identity Card  (BCID)
  • B.C. Services Card
  • Canadian or international passport
  • Canadian citizenship card
  • Canadian permanent resident card
  • Secure Certificate of Indian Status card, issued by the Government of Canada
  • Canadian identity card, issued by Global Affairs Canada
  • Laminated membership cards issued by First Nations, Metis or Inuit bands

Yes. Be sure to bring originals as pictures or copies will not be accepted.

The system will not store any personal information for those granted access to a casino or community gaming centre.

For individuals who are not permitted to enter, such as those enrolled in the Game Break program, the attempted entry will be logged.

If your ID is flagged upon scanning, casino security will not allow you to enter the casino.

If you believe a mistake has been made, contact BCLC’s Customer Support.
